There is a right and wrong way to go about recruiting top affiliates. The right way includes that is respectful of that affiliate marketer, mentions some of his/her other products, and emphasizes the benefits the affiliate marketer will get from joining your affiliate program and promoting your product offers.

The wrong way is to not write a proposal in the first place, which you need to do to introduce yourself and your offer to the affiliate marketer you’re trying to recruit.

The wrong way also includes writing a proposal that tells how great your company is. Instead, you should be writing about how joining your affiliate program will benefit him/her and his/her list - after all, they’re going to wonder, “What’s in it for me to join your affiliate program and promote your products?” Therefore, touting how great your company is or bragging about your company’s history is not going to entice them into joining your force.

Keep in mind that you want to recruit the affiliate marketer into your affiliate sales force to promote your products, so there’s an obvious benefit for him/her joining you. What successful proposals will do is to show the affiliate marketer why it is beneficial for him/her to join your affiliate sales force, so it is more advantageous for you to focus on the positive aspects of this new relationship for them, including the quality of your products and how they will benefit their subscribers, rather than focusing on yourself or your company.
